A Bit About Big R

Chuck Schmidt and Wayne Wike purchased the Havre and Great Falls Big R Stores from Reed Sandvig in the summer of 2000, and have since adapted the store's offerings with new products and services. Now a larger store is in the works today, in the same neighborhood as the original store, tripling in size to serve the community and the region with a larger selection and variety of product.

Big R Stores located in Great Falls and Havre , MT have changed greatly since first opened. The original store was founded in Havre, 1970, by owner Al Sandvig and store manager Eugene Wike. A modest logistical beginning (roughly 12,000 sq feet), the company launched a business that today occupies 38,000 sq ft in the Holiday Village Mall complex on the west end of Havre. Then in the early 70s, Al's brother Reed Sandvig purchased the Havre location and opened the Great Falls store in the Agri-Village Complex at 4800 10 th Ave South.

Today the store offers nearly everything, or as the slogan says, "Almost Anything, Big R's Got It." From farm and ranch supplies, to plumbing and electrical; tack and pet, to work and western wear; automotive and sporting goods, to tools and hardware; feed and salt, or even gifts and jewelry.Big R Stores today carries a broad range of products suited to meet the needs of the region-with the same care and concern for the customers that we believe founded the business. Stop on in, say "hello," and let us help you find what you are looking for in a Big R sort of way!
