State Fair Race Meet
July 4, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31
Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse and Paint Horse racing comes to the top track in the state at Montana ExpoPark. With 10 exciting days of horse racing, betters and horse lovers can enjoy the fun and thrills of Montana 's best horses. Simulcast horse and greyhound racing from all major tracks held in conjunction with live action.

Post times are 1:30 pm race days except for Friday, July 29 when post time will be at 4:30 pm.

Table for four $150 (includes four admissions, four race programs and one VIP race parking pass)

Upper Grandstand-Terrace: Table for four $150 (includes four admissions, four race programs and one VIP race parking pass)

Upper Grandstand-Terrace: Table for two $100 (includes two admissions, two race programs and one VIP race parking pass)

Lower Grandstand Covered Box Seats: Seating for four $175 (includes four admissions, four race programs and one VIP race parking pass)

Lower Grandstand Covered Box Seats: Seating for three $125 (includes three admissions, three race programs and one VIP race parking pass)

VIP Parking is adjacent to the Grandstand July 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24. Parking moves to main lot southwest of Four Seasons Arena on July 4 and during Montana State Fair July 29, 30 & 31.

Stakes Races Information

  1. Late Payments can be made in any stakes by paying three (3) times the missed paymentup to the closing of entries at 10 am on date to enter trials. Trials must be
    entered to be eligible for finals.
  2. All trials for stakes races will pay a purse of $1,200.
  3. All stakes races will be run under the supervision and rules adopted by the Montana Board of Horse Racing.
  4. Send nomination and sustaining payments to: Montana State Fair Race Meet, P.O. Box 1888, Great Falls, MT 59403. Final payment to enter trials accepted at
    Race Office.

The Board of Horse Racing program is responsible for:

  1. regulating the live and simulcast horse racing industry;
  2. ensuring compliance by the approximately 3,500 licensees with state laws and board rules;
  3. licensing all racing personnel, establishing race dates for various communities, establishing veterinary practices and standards in connection with horse racing meets; and
  4. the auditing, supervision, and investigations related to the pari-mutuel racing system in Montana. The program work is mandated in Title 2, Chapter 15, and Title 23, Chapter 4, MCA.

The Board of Horse Racing is funded with state special revenue derived from a 1% tax on gross betting receipts from pari-mutuel betting. For simulcast facilities, the tax is the greater of 1% of gross betting receipts or the actual cost to the board for regulating the meet.

July 4th Fireworks at Dusk
The Fairgrounds will remain open to the public for spectacular views of the city's Fireworks. Concession stands will be open until the conclusion of the display.
